Nepali President Ram Baran Yadav returned form China on Monday night after attending the closing ceremony of Shanghai Expo 2010.
"It was a goodwill visit and it has strengthened the bilateral relations of the two countries," the president told reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport in the capital Kathmandu.
This was the president's first visit to the northern neighbor after assuming office in July 2008.
During his stay in China, he held a meeting with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Shanghai.
"The President expressed his sincere appreciation and thankfulness to the friendly government and people of China for their continued assistance to Nepal in her development endeavours and to the ongoing peace process. He also reaffirmed Nepal's consistent adherence to the one-China policy," said a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier, the president attended the closing ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo 2010. The expo that started in May 2010 came to a close on Sunday after six months of hugely successful participation by more than 180 countries and over 70 million visitors.
