Some of the rarest species of fish will make a splash this weekend at the 5th Shanghai International Aquatic Animals Expo.
The Aqua-Expo is expected to see a stream of family aquarium owners and fish lovers. The event will be held at the city's International Agriculture Exhibition Center from Friday to Sunday.
Spectators will see some 180 types of fish or other aquatic creatures at the expo. Some rare ones include pink jelly fish, the Turquoise Discus from Germany, and Brocaded Carp from Japan.
To take just one of these carp home will cost 300-thousand yuan, or some 40-thousand US dollars.
Experts from Shanghai Aquatic Creatures Research Center will show up to tutor residents on how to raise fish. It's estimated that in Shanghai, up to 500-thousand families own an aquarium.
