The High Bar

Hai Bar features the cuisine of Fujan Province. |
On the way to the second floor, the most conspicuous site is an embroidered portrait of Chairman Mao Zedong, clearly revealing the proprietor's faithful belief and distinctive characteristics. The ornaments on the midlevel are of low-profile luxury, shunning forceful colors and overly complex layout. Comfortable yellow sofas are arrayed at the corners and ethnic craftworks are affixed to the beams. This space is cozy and comfortable.
The third floor is an open sightseeing deck, overlooking a neighborhood scene of exceptional charm. The "Bell & Drum Towers to the front, Shichahai Lake behind" is an apt way to describe and locate Hai Bar.
"The sightseeing deck is the only place in the area where customers can view both the Bell & Drum Towers and Shichahai Lake," explains the bar's owner-manager, Mr. Lin. "Many people come here for this reason. Some pop singers, like Xu Wei, chose this place to shoot their music videos. A foreigner recently spent much time looking for this place using a map. When he entered the door, he exclaimed ‘I finally found it!' One-fifth of Dancing Heart [a major Beijing Olympic-themed film featuring film stars Ai Dai and Zhong Hanliang] was shot here."
