Tongda Ecosystem Park 同達生態(tài)園
Housed in a 5,000sqm greenhouse, Tongda offers typical dishes from Jilin in an environment atypical of the province: lush green foliage florishing in moist warm air.
Birds tweet over the sound of a rushing waterfall. Rather than bring the essence of nature into a comfortable restaurant, the purveyors of Tongda Ecosystem Park have decided to bring the restaurant into nature. Housed in a 5,000 square metre two-story greenhouse that can comfortably seat 1,000, each table is surrounded by lush green foliage and craggy rock formations. That waterfall sound isn't canned; there is indeed a man-made waterfall that plunges down from the second floor near the back of the restaurant. All ingredients are grown on the premises and the chefs specialise in Jilin cuisine. The pork knuckles (zhu shou, RMB 6) and the stewed eggplants, potatoes and peppers (xindi sanxian,RMB 9) are of particular note. Take a stroll through the grounds and don't miss the family of stuffed deer peering over the edge of the falls and the formidable greenhouse just beyond the back doors. Oct 03
