The Russian National Orchestra (RNO), which is widely recognized as one of the world's top orchestras, will perform at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing Thursday evening.
The orchestra, conducted by Alexander Sladkovsky, will play the Firebird Suite (1919 Edition) by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, the Ancestor Suite by American composer Gordon Getty, and the Piano Concerto No.1 by Russian master Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in the NCPA's concert hall at 19:30.
The RNO was founded in 1990 by the pianist Mikhail Pletnev and its recordings of masterpieces by famous Russian composers have been widely acclaimed.
The RNO is a frequent visitor to major festivals such as Edinburgh, Shanghai, and the BBC Proms. The orchestra made its debut in China in February, 2002.
