The epic sci-fi drama "Three-Body," inspired by Liu Cixin's Hugo Award-winning masterpiece "The Three-Body Problem," made a spectacular debut last year, captivating the sci-fi community. Launched domestically in January 2023 on Tencent Video and Chinese Central Television (CCTV), the series has been praised for its exceptional quality and creativity, earning an impressive rating of 8.7 out of 10 from over 430,000 users on Douban, China's leading review aggregation website. Fans have celebrated the series for its faithful adaptation of the novel, skillfully blending global perspectives with Chinese cultural elements. The "Three-Body" franchise shows no signs of stopping; it has expanded to include exhibitions, stage dramas, pop-up books, comics, a radio drama show, and a variety show. Plans are underway for a museum, a sequel series, "Three-Body II: The Dark Forest," and a spin-off centered around the character Shi Qiang. A live-action film by Tian Xiaopeng was also announced. Prior to the release of the much-anticipated Netflix's "3 Body Problem" series on March 21, 2024, this acclaimed Chinese adaptation premiered for American audiences on Peacock, NBCUniversal's premier streaming service, starting Feb. 10.
