# Gahai Wetland
Location: Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Gannan, Gansu province (Northwestern China)
Gahai Wetland is the largest plateau wetland at the eastern end of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and one of the most important water supply areas in the upper reaches of the Yellow River. Current protection efforts focus on water storage, grassland restoration and river and wetland conservation.
Gahai Wetland is particularly significant in terms of biodiversity conservation, water storage and supply, as well as carbon capture and storage.
