The size of China's AI market reached 23.7 billion yuan (US$3.5 billion) in 2017, up 67 percent year-on-year, according to a recently published report by Tsinghua University titled China’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Development Report 2018.
The report evaluates the country's AI development measured according to the relative output, talent, market application, strategies, policies and social cognition in a global context.
By June 2018, the number of AI enterprises in China had reached 1,011 (excluding Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region, and Taiwan Province), with Beijing, the country's capital, home to the largest number of AI enterprises.
Overall, cities in the United States occupy four of the top 10, compared to three from China.
