Lascaux, or Lascaux Cave, is a complex of caves in the Vezere Valley near the village of Montignac in southwestern France. It is renowned for over 600 detailed parietal wall paintings dating back 15,000 to 17,000 years ago, first found by a group of teenagers in September, 1940. The French government doesn't allow any visits to protect the fragile art treasures.
