Equipped with state-of-the-art robotics technology, industrial robots are used in a wide variety of industries, including the automotive, electronic, mechanical and chemical industries, among others.
About 225,000 units of industrial robots were sold worldwide in 2014. This statistic has increased by 27 percent from the previous year, according to the International Federation of Robotics. The already booming robotics industry is believed to be heading for more robust growth, as many countries in the world are battling against labor shortages and ever-increasing labor costs.

Adept Technology Inc., based in California, the United States, is a leading provider of intelligent vision-guided robotics systems and services. Founded in 1983, Adept is one of the largest U.S.-based manufacturers of industrial robots. Adept robots are used in high-speed, precision manufacturing, packaging, and factory automation.
More than 25,000 non-captive robots and more than 30,000 Adept controlled robots are installed worldwide, according to the company website. The company’s revenue during the 2015 fiscal year reached roughly US$54.2 million.
