The leading market research firm iResearch has published a new report on Chinese customers' online food ordering behavior.
The survey shows that ele.me is people's favorite third party platform to order food, followed by Meituan Waimai and Taodiandian.
According to statistics, 46.9 percent of Chinese netizens ordered food online in 2014 and 55.1 percent used third-party platforms. The market size of O2O (Online To Offline) services in the Chinese catering industry reached 97.51 billion yuan (US$15.71 billion), accounting for 3.5 percent of the industry. It is estimated that in 2017, the market size may surpass 200 billion yuan (US$32.24 billion), with an annual growth rate of 30 percent.
