The Hurun Research Institute recently released its Hurun Philanthropy List 2015, a ranking of the 100 most generous individuals from the Chinese mainland. It was based on philanthropists' donations from April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2015.
The threshold of the list reached 12 million yuan (US$ 1.93 million). Eighteen of those on the list made donations of over 100 million yuan (US$16 million).
According to the report, 34 of last year's 100 Chinese philanthropists, are still on the list this year. The real estate industry has generated a large number of rich people, as well as philanthropists. Of the 100 top philanthropists, 44 are from the real estate industry.
