Forbes recently published its latest ranking of the world‘s 20 most valuable soccer teams. Real Madrid is at the top of the list, becoming the most valuable franchise in football, and in professional sports. It has assets of US$3.26 billion. Barcelona took second place for the second year straight, with a value of US$3.16 billion. Manchester United, at US$3.1 billion, is at number three.
Overall, the average value of the 20 teams on the list has increased to US$1.16 billion, 11 percent more than last year, and more impressively, 84 percent higher than five years ago, thanks to the larger television and sponsorship deals.
This is the 12th ranking published by Forbes on the values of soccer teams. The rankings are based on the revenues and operating incomes of the soccer teams during the 2013-14 season.
