A total of 370 billionaires worth a combined US$1.15 trillion made it onto the list of the richest people of Chinese origin released by the Chinese version of Forbes magazine on Monday. Chinese billionaires now account for 20 percent of the world's richest people for the first time ever, according to Forbes. Their fortunes grew by US$276.3 billion from 2014, a year-on-year increase of 32 percent.
Of the billionaires on the list, 213 are from the Chinese mainland, accounting for 57.6 percent of the wealthiest on the list, while the richest from Hong Kong and Taiwan account for 8.9 percent respectively.
Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing retained his spot as the richest Chinese person with a net worth of US$33.3 billion, up 7.42 percent from the previous year. Real estate juggernaut Wang Jianlin is the richest from the Chinese mainland, followed closely by Alibaba's Jack Ma.
