Lijiang Ancient Town |
Lijiang Ancient Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the north of Yunnan Province. It lies 2,400 meters above sea level and is surrounded by jagged, snow-capped peaks. This town is famous for its unique architectural style, which blends different elements from several cultures. It is crisscrossed by ancient, colorful stone-paved streets and lanes, and lined with old houses made of wood, stone, and mud. The wooden homes, tea houses and stone streets of the old town haven't changed since the town was under the administration of Tusi System (native chieftain system) almost 700 years ago. Unlike Northern China with its sweltering summer weather, Lijiang enters its rainy season in July, making the area a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a cool summer.
