Time: 2006 FIFA World Cup, Germany
Since Karel Poborsk chipped the ball and lobbed it over the advancing Vítor Baía in Euro 96, the Czech Republic has welcomed its golden 10 years led by Pavel Nedved, age 34. Nedved participated in his first World Cup during the 2006 Germany World Cup. However, the performance of the Czechs was not good enough to pass the group competition. When the last group competition was over, he cried on one knee – a heartbreaking moment. After the World Cup, he announced his withdrawal from the national team.
