The Walton family is undoubtedly one of the richest families in the world, owning more than half of the world's largest retailer, Walmart, which was worth $150 billion as of August 2013. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. was founded by Sam and Bud Walton in 1962, incorporated in October 1969 and publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange in 1972.
