Gartner, a leading technology research and consulting company, has released its statistics of the worldwide mobile phone sales in 2013. Users bought 490.3 million mobile phones in Q4 of 2013, an increase of 3.9 percent compared with the same period in 2012.
The statistics show that global mobile phone sales to end users totaled around 1.8 billion units in 2013, an increase of 3.5 percent from 2012. Samsung comes out the biggest winner for 2013, with sales of 444.44 million units last year and a market share of 24.6 percent.
According to Mr. Gupta, the principal research analyst at Gartner, the three largest mobile manufacturers are still dominating the global mobile phone market, however, their shares did take a tumble in Q4 of 2013, as well as over the course of the whole year, as Chinese and regional brands continue to raise their shares.
