Rivers, as important sources of life on our planet, are many a globetrotter's favored travel destination. CNN recently published a ranking of the world's 15 best rivers for travelers to visit.
South America's Amazon River took up the first place thanks to its beautiful scenery, wildlife variety and various activity options. Africa's Zambezi River came in second, followed by Guatemala's Río Cahabón.
Lijiang River in China's Guilin was the only Chinese river to make the list at the number 14 spot. CNN describes Lijiang River as, "China might be known for the Yangtze, but it's difficult not to fall under the spell of the Li (Lijiang) River, one of its tributaries… It's possible to take in the river's breathtaking karst topography…while others prefer to opt for a more traditional bamboo rafting trip along the smaller and less crowded Yulong River."
The ranking was based on internal discussions, expert views and online polls. The five criteria used, include scenic beauty, nature and wildlife, culture, adventure and activity options.
Let's have a look at the following 15 options for your next riverside trip.
