As the only female head in the Chinese wine-making industry, Judy Leissner is now CEO of Grace Vineyard, the first family-owned boutique winery in China. Graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in Psychology, Women's Studies and Organizational Studies, a 24-year-old Judy joined Grace in 2002 after working for Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong for two years.
Grace Vineyard was established in 1997 by Judy's father, a Chinese-Indonesian businessman named Chun-Keung Chan. Located in Taigu County of Shanxi Province, the winery developed itself into one of the best wine producers in the country. Since 2002, under the leadership of Judy, the company has built a distribution network of 19 wine shops or bars nationwide, and its market has expanded from Hong Kong to Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Britain, Belgium, Switzerland, and the United States. In April of this year, Judy was included in Fortune's "Asia's 25 hottest people in business" rankings as well as named "2012 Asian Wine Personality of the Year" by publication The Drinks Business.
