Nankai University (NKU) in Tianjin is a highly-regarded multi-disciplinary university in China. It was founded in 1919 by two patriotic educationists-Zhang Boling and Yan Fansun. The university is the alma mater of a great number of famous figures, including former Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai, "Father of Chinese Physics" Ta-You Wu, and artist and calligrapher Fan Zeng. At present, NKU offers 71 undergraduate specialties, 206 Master's programs, 117 doctoral programs, 17 post-doctoral research stations and 16 authorized primary doctoral specialties, among which mathematics, chemistry, history, business and economics are the disciplines for which it is most highly regarded.
