Nanjing University (NJU) is a national key comprehensive university which was founded in 1902 as Sanjiang Normal School. Located in Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu Province, NJU is known as the originator of science in modern China. The university has made significant contributions to China's education, academic research and cultural advancement. NJU has produced a great number of prominent professional figures over the years, including China's modern physical science leader Wu Youxun, Chien-Shiung Wu, who is also known as "the Chinese Marie Curie" and renowned nuclear physicist Zhu Guangya.
