Alex Ferguson, born in 1941, is a former Scottish player. In June 1974, Ferguson was appointed as manager of East Stirlingshire at the comparatively young age of 32. After coaching St. Mirren and Aberdeen, he became manager of Manchester United. With more than 24 years as manager of the team, he is the longest serving manager in their history. His tenure is also the longest of all the current League managers. During this time, Ferguson has won many awards and holds many records, including winning Manager of the Year the most times in British football history.
