In early February, the "2010 China Cities Housing Price List" was published online by a civil research organization in China, based on data from the first six months of the year. Although the accuracy of the list’s findings has been widely disputed by real estate industry experts and the media, it has nonetheless attracted extensive public attention and concern. According to the list, the following 10 cities posted the highest average housing prices in China in 2010:
Zhoushan
Zhoushan is a city in eastern China's Zhejiang Province situated across from the mouth of Hangzhou Bay. It is the only city in Zhejiang Province consisting solely of islands, and the largest base for producing and selling brine-based products around the country. At the end of 2010, the average housing price in Zhoushan was 10,500 RMB per sq m.
