Situated west of Panjiayuan Bridge and south of the East Third Ring Road, Beijing Panjiayuan Antique Market is very accessible. It is the biggest folk culture market in China, and opens seven days a week.
Products sold in the market include antiques, calligraphy, paintings, stationery, china, and wooden furniture. There are more than 3,000 business stalls from different provinces around China including many minority groups selling their local goods.
Because of its diversity and vast number of shops, one can find a rich variety of different products. It also has the reputation of being the most inexpensive antiques market in Beijing, attracting foreign and domestic tourists.
With so many stalls selling similar items, this is a great place for bargain hunters. And although there are genuine articles to be found here, it is hard to tell the real from the fake, particularly if you aren't an expert.
It used to be a weekend-only market. But, after some refurbishment work, it is now open for business seven days a week. However, weekends are still the best days to go.
