China launches its first petaflop supercomputer Tianhe-1
Tianhe-1 was first revealed to the public on October 29, 2009. It was developed by the Chinese National University of Defense Technology in Changsha, Hunan Province. The supercomputer reached a performance of 1.206 Petaflops and with a Linpack resulting 563.1 China is the second country that was able to develop Teraflops, a supercomputer, after the United States.
