Ramiro Carrera scored a late equalizer as Argentina's Lanus earned a 1-1 away draw with Brazilian side Cruzeiro in the first leg of their Copa Sudamericana semifinal on Wednesday.
Kaio Jorge gave the Brazilian side the lead just after halftime with a close-range finish, but Carrera put the Argentine outfit on level terms by heading home 17 minutes from time.
The return leg will be played at La Fortaleza in Lanus next Wednesday.
"We didn't play well," Cruzeiro manager Fernando Diniz told reporters after the match. "We knew that we had to lift our game today, and we weren't able to do that.
"But there's a long way to go, and now we have to concentrate on the second leg because the contest is wide open," he added.
