Beijing's future diving stars showcased their skills at the 2024 Beijing Youth Diving Championship, which wrapped up Oct. 2 at the National Aquatics Center in the capital city of China.
The event, held at the dual-Olympic venue known as the Water Cube, featured about 80 young athletes from across the city competing in six categories. Events included the 1-meter springboard and platform, 3-meter springboard, 5-meter platform and related synchronized diving events.
Beijing diving team head coach Wang Xiaosong stressed the importance of nurturing young talent. "Diving is one of the key sporting programs of Beijing, and we are working to expand our talent pool," Wang said. He emphasized the team's focus on popularizing diving among youth, honing competition skills and developing national-level contenders.
Throughout the event, the young divers showcased impressive skills, dazzling the audience with clean entries and "splash disappearing techniques." Their determination and fearlessness left a strong impression on spectators, sparking excitement about their potential on the international stage.
By hosting the championship, the National Aquatics Center also contributed its part to offering a platform for young divers to compete and showcase their skills.
