The Jiangsu Dragons' woeful campaign in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league continued after it suffered a 107-86 loss to the Shanxi Loongs at home for a 17-game skid on Thursday.
With its defeat in a rescheduled 18th-round match, Jiangsu sits second from bottom with a win-loss record of 4-35.
Alexey Shved finished with a triple-double of 23 points, 13 rebounds and 14 assists for Shanxi. Yuan Shuai and Ge Zhaobao chipped in with 24 and 20 points respectively.
"We had advantages in defense and rebounds. Our players were patient on the court, and did well in execution," commented Shanxi coach Yang Xuezeng.
Ge notched eight points as Shanxi rode on an early 10-0 run to take the initiative for a 27-17 lead after the first quarter.
Cui Xiaolong drove for a layup, helping Jiangsu cut the deficit within five points with 8:42 remaining in the second quarter, while Shanxi made its quick response after a timeout, with Han Peiyu's dunk regaining a double-figure lead for the visitors, who went ahead 53-43 at the half.
Jiangsu failed to maintain its defense after the break, as Shanxi carried a 17-point lead into the fourth and was never threatened from there. Shved's four-point play with eight minutes to play powered Shanxi to a 92-70 lead en route to a comfortable victory.
Jalen Riley topped Jiangsu's scoring with 27 points, while Alpha Kaba had a double-double of 11 points and 12 boards.
After the All-Star Weekend in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province, the next phase of CBA regular season will kick off next Wednesday, with 13 rounds of matches remaining on the calendar.
