The Liaoning Flying Leopards overwhelmed the Beijing Ducks 113-85, while the Zhejiang Golden Bulls edged the Guangdong Southern Tigers 126-122 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Monday.
Liaoning started strongly and secured a 12-point lead at the end of the first quarter. Marcus Keene and Ty Leaf led Beijing's comeback efforts to cut the deficit to eight points at halftime, while Liaoning responded through Fu Hao and Zhao Jiwei's shots back from the locker room to extend its margin to 18 points after three quarters.
Kyle Fogg pocketed 34 points for Liaoning, with Fu and Yan Shouqi scoring 23 and 18 points respectively. On the Beijing side, Fan Ziming topped the scoring with 22 points, followed by Leaf's 16.
In a tit-for-tat competition, Guangdong established an 11-point halftime lead while Zhejiang tipped the balance with three-pointers and layups of Cheng Shuaipeng and Carlik Jones.
Wang Yibo helped Zhejiang tie the score at 103-103 midway through the last quarter. The two teams then exchanged points until the last minute of the match, before Jones secured Zhejiang's fifth straight victory while Guangdong suffered a three-game skid.
Also on Monday, the Guangzhou Loong Lions defeated the Shenzhen Aviators 109-96, the Fujian Sturgeons knocked down the Jiangsu Dragons 104-93, the Tianjin Pioneers cruised past the Sichuan Blue Whales 94-84, the Jilin Northeast Tigers prevailed over the Shandong Heroes 112-104, the Shanghai Sharks routed the Ningbo Rockets 103-86, and the Xinjiang Flying Tigers crushed the Qingdao Eagles 117-98.
