China's Zhu Lin failed to defend her title at the WTA 250 Thailand Open at Hua Hin as she lost 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 to Diana Shnaider in Sunday's final.
19-year-old Shnaider broke serve and raced into a 3-0 lead. Although second seed Zhu broke serve afterwards, she failed to continue her momentum and lost the first set.
Zhu broke twice in the second set to restore parity, but Shnaider dominated the deciding set by breaking three times.
China's Guo Hanyu and Jiang Xinyu lost to top seeds Miyu Kato and Aldila Sutjiadi 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 in the doubles final, settling for their second runner-up finish this season.
