The Qingdao Eagles handed the Sichuan Blue Whales their fifth straight defeat 115-97, while versatile guard Dominique Jones powered the Xinjiang Flying Tigers to an 87-78 victory over the Shanghai Sharks in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Friday.
Myles Powell contributed eight points as Qingdao raced to a 21-11 lead midway through the first quarter and built a 35-26 advantage at the end of the quarter.
Qingdao continued their firm grip on the game to extend the margin to 18 points at halftime.
The third quarter was more intense as Sichuan outscored 29-27 down the stretch, with Kyle O'Quinn leading them with nine points and Wang Ruize pocketing eight points for Qingdao.
With a 16-point lead heading into the final frame, Qingdao met little resistance afterwards from the home side, the only winless team after five rounds of games in the current campaign.
Powell led Qingdao with 34 points and nine rebounds. Wang added 22 points and eight rebounds. On the Sichuan side, Robert Golden had a game-high 39 points.
Jones registered 40 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists as Xinjiang notched their fourth win. Abdusalam Abdurexit also bagged a double-double of 20 points and 13 boards.
Playing without their injured star center Wang Zhelin, Shanghai found it quite difficult to match up with Xinjiang's firepower and had to swallow their fourth defeat of the season.
