"The Tide", the Asian Games torch was relayed in Guangzhou city on Tuesday (November 9). The torch toured from the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, through Zhenhai Tower, the Statue of Five Goats, the Museum of the West Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King, Haizhu Square, Haizhu Bridge, the Memorial Museum of Generalissimo Sun Yat-sen's Mansion, Canton Tower, and finally got to Pazhou Tower Park. The whole tour covered about 18 kilometres and took 208 torchbearers four hours to relay. Along the tour, Guangzhou citizens cheered up with their greatest passion.

At 9:00am, the first torchbearer Yang Yilin received "The Tide" from Zhang Guangning, Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). The torch travelled through 207 torchbearers' hands to the last torchbearer Timothy Fok, Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). Mr Fok lit the cauldron with Yang Wu, Director of the Torch Relay Operation Centre, and the Torch Relay ended with extreme joy.

Among the 208 torchbearers were many celebrities such as famous singer Song Zuying, Olympic gold medalist Wang Yifu, successful enterpriser Lan Fok and Dawa Yangzom who lit a flame at the foot of Mount Tangula to start the Torch Relay for the Beijing Asian Games in 1990 at the age of 14. There were 10 performance spots along the relay tour.
