The U.S. took the lead early in the first quarter and held through for the entir match.
Kevin Durant once again dominated the game, scoring more than a third of the winning team's total points, as he had done in the past two games.
He finished the top scorer of the game, netting 28 points including seven three-pointers. Team captain Hidayet Turkoglu lead Turkey with 16 points.
The US took an early lead finishing the first quarter 22-17. The gap widened throughout, with the first half finishing at 42-32.
The U.S. momentum would continue throughout the second half, finishing the third quarter 61-48 to end the game with a 17 point lead.
This is the United States' first world basketball championship victory since 1994.
