China's Zheng Jie and her partner Elna Vesnina advanced to the last 16 of women's doubles at the Australian Open on Saturday after their opponents withdrew from their third round clash.

Zheng/Vesnina, the No.9 seed in the doubles event, had been scheduled to play Virginie Razzano/Yanina Wickmayer, but the latter pair pulled out hours before the match start.

Zheng/Vesnina will next face either Yan Zi/Bethanle Mattek-Sands or Jelena Jankovic/Shenay Perry.
