An unwanted debate

China or United States, a new question has appeared. Seems like, we are drifting from the main issue to another. People have started debating with more statistical numbers and own emotions. More like at the diner table, without eating the food or trying to solve the problem that the dish is salty; we are fighting each other that, who have put more salt in it. This is really not appreciable.

Before we start debating all this we have to remind ourselves that we are doing it for ourselves, for human being and for this world. We have to understand that sharing a little more responsibility will give us a better future. If it is all about people then we can look at some statistics. United States and China are at the top of the list of the Carbon Emission by country. But have we seen that United States is at #5 at the list of CO2 Emissions (per capita) by country, where China is far behind at #80. The statistics says that United States CO2 Emissions (per capita) is 19.4839 per 1,000 people and China CO2 Emissions (per capita) is 2.65908 per 1,000 people. Moreover, the global human development index shows a clear difference between United States and China at the index United States is ranked #13 and China is ranked #92. United States is ranked #11 and China is ranked #122 at the World Bank published purchasing power parity list and it show that Chinese citizen's income is, on average, 12.8% of a US citizen. In 2008 the US had almost 8 times higher GDP per capita in international dollars, compared to China. Also we have to keep in mind that there will be growth of economy, growth of population and we just can't expect for a miracle.

We also have to think about where other countries are. Qatar is at #60 at the list of Co2 emissions (Total by a country). But this country is at the top of Co2 emissions (Per Capita). Russia, Japan, India, Germany, United Kingdom, Canada and Italy are also at the top of CO2 Emissions by country. We also have to look forward to them. We can't forget that Maldives have declared to reduce the Co2 emission to 0 (zero). May be that will take time or some may start another debate that it is impossible. But it is true that they will try hard and try their best. But we can't achieve anything being solo. We have to combine the effort. Every country has to put the effort together.

The whole world is looking forward a good result from the United Nations climate change conference 2009. The conference has a lot to do. The conference may stand alone when we write it or read it. But in reality the conference is not a single entity. A conference in reality becomes successful with the agreement and performance of many countries, many policy makers, a lot of factors together. We wish everybody will work together. There is no reason that the conference may end up with nothing. We respect the people who make things better for us and expect a lot from them.

We have watched a lot of movies from different continents in different languages that when mankind is at risk, people work together. Everybody try to put their share and try to save the world, the mankind. It is time for us to not to let our future generation face the trouble. It is time for us to show that we can do it for real. We can make a deal that worth for the whole world. There is no question about the ability it is only about the effort.

Some places we may see that "bad deal will be worse than no deal". Do you think the world leaders can make a bad deal? They are the best and they will surely give us the best result.
