A Zhejiang fugitive was nabbed after 13 years' on the run and brought to court after the man had become the vice headmaster of the Communist Party school in Zhangjiagang, Qianjiang Evening News reported.
Shi Baoyue was suspected of committing fraud of more than 8.43 million yuan by means of VAT invoice.
Later he escaped to Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province, and assumed the alias of Gao Shanqing.
With a series of false identities, he managed to find a job with local newspapers and kept climbing the corporate ladder.
Shi showed remorse for his guilt but argued in court that he was making contributions to the society, including funding poverty-stricken students and orphans in the Sichuan earthquake.
