A man wrongly jailed for nine years for a murder he didn't commit received 890,000 yuan (US$130,720) in compensation, but now is suffering serious mental illness, China Youth Daily reported.

Wang Zifa, a villager in Hechi City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was sentenced to death for the murder of Wu Zongmou, a local villager who was stabbed to death while having supper with Wang in September 2001.

The turning point came in 2007, when the actual culprit Tan Hanbao, in prison for robbery, confessed to killing Wu.

Wang regained his freedom, but has developed paranoid schizophrenia during imprisonment. He is receiving medical treatment intermittently.

2001年9月，廣西壯族自治區(qū)河池市村民吳宗謀與王子發(fā)一起吃晚飯時(shí)被人捅死，王子發(fā)因此被以謀殺罪判處死刑。

2007年案情出現(xiàn)轉(zhuǎn)機(jī)，因搶劫罪服刑的覃漢寶，承認(rèn)自己才是殺死吳宗謀的兇手。

王子發(fā)重新獲得了自由，但在服刑期間確患上了妄想型分裂癥，目前正接受間歇性治療。
