Festival gifts up for re-gifting, re-sale

The annual market demand of gifts in China has reached a staggering 768.4 billion yuan, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

Top of Chinese people's gift wish lists included shopping cards, health care products and Apple products.

However, more than 40 percent of consumers say they will either re-gift the presents they received or sell them to second-hand dealers and pawn shops.

Cigarettes, liquor, shopping cards and health care products are the easiest items to re-sell.

(China.org.cn, CNTV February 13, 2012)
