There were three tides of being single in the history of People's Republic of China. By the end of 20th century, with the rapid development of economy and the improvement of women's independent awareness, the fourth single trend appeared. More and more women voluntarily choose to be single and they have promoted the "single economy." |
The single women's living pressure is also huge. Most of the single women in Shanghai are very busy and 57% of them work more than 8 hours a day. Four percent of women choose to be single due to their sex preference.
