The village of Buford in Wyoming has only one inhabitant -- 60-year-old Don Sammons -- the Daily Mail reported. But even though he lives 8,000ft up a cold mountain, Mr. Sammons denies feeling lonely in the one-man hamlet where he runs an isolated petrol station and convenience shop.
Mr. Sammons left Los Angeles in 1980 with his wife for the tiny town of six buildings to escape their busy lifestyle. When the couple arrived, there were seven people in Buford, working for a railroad that passes nearby, but they had moved away by the mid-1990s. Mr. Sammons' wife died 15 years ago and his son, now aged 26, moved to Colorado three years ago leaving him in Buford on his own. He gets about 1,000 visitors a day to the village during the summer, but this drops to around 100 during the winter.
