Chinese language is becoming more popular in Danish high schools and 13 Danish high schools have launched Chinese-language curriculum, said a latest report by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DBC).

A delegation of 35 high school principles from Denmark has just returned from China and many of these school leaders expect to offer Chinese as a language course from next year. At least many cooperation agreements have been signed between Chinese and Danish schools according to DBC.

Currently, 13 Danish high schools have Chinese on the curriculum. The course is very new, so only few have a high school diploma with Chinese on the curriculum.

However, some of those who have spent time learning Chinese in high school spent another half year working as English teachers in China, in order to become better in Chinese.

According to DBC, many young Danes do not doubt why they should learn Chinese. This is where new opportunities and markets can be found according to them.

In September, Chinese International Language Council, the Confucius Institute of Copenhagen Business School, the Confucius innovation center at Aalborg University and the education department at the Chinese embassy in Copenhagen arranged a trip for 35 Danish high school principals to visit China.
