Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said in Canberra Monday that its government will take "energetic approach" to promote cooperation relations with China in various aspects.
The prime minister made the remarks in a meeting with Chen Zhili, visiting vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress, China's top legislative body.
Given the status quo, Rudd said, it would be more far-reaching for Australia and China to spare extra efforts in collaborations in economy, science, education, art and literature.
As the government has adopted an active fiscal policy in stimulating domestic economy, Rudd expressed his confidence that those measures will virtually enable Australia to well adjust itself in face of the current financial crisis.
Chen Zhili said China and Australia are two countries of consequence in Asia Pacific region. The Chinese government has longtime adopted strategic and long-term view towards the relation between the two countries as well as its development.
"The two countries are mutually complementary in terms of cooperation and communication, which has brought concrete benefits to each other," Chen said.
"Confronting the same lasting financial crisis spread worldwide, China and Australia shall maximize potentials in every aspect of cooperation, enhance coordination via dialogues, so as to force the bilateral relation into a much deeper and all-round phase," she added.
Chen was visiting Australia at the invitation of the Federal parliament. She will leave for New Zealand on Tuesday.
