Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong said that more financial and personnel resources should be put into education in areas heavily populated by ethnic minorities.
Liu, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, recently inspected higher education, vocational education and basic education in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as the region celebrates the 50th anniversary of founding.
Liu said funds for education should go up along with growth of fiscal revenues, efforts should be made in improving school buildings and bettering nutrition of students, more programs should be initiated for teachers' training in those areas, and vocational education should be developed towards a tuition-free system.
Liu also asked local governments to promote better curriculum designs for schools and ethics education among students.
