Editor's note: Chinese President Xi Jinping has expounded China's views and promises on climate change on many occasions, and actively promoted the multilateral process of a global response to climate change:

"Climate change is a global challenge at which no country can stand on their own."

Xi said in a written interview with Reuters, Oct 18, 2015

"Developed and developing countries have different historical responsibilities for climate change, and different development needs and capabilities. Just like in a car race: it would be neither reasonable nor fair to apply the same speed requirements to cars which have run far ahead and those which have only just left the starting point."

Xi said in a written interview with Reuters, Oct 18, 2015

"Developed countries should fulfill a commitment to provide $100 billion in climate finance annually by 2020 and transfer climate friendly technologies to developing countries."

Xi said during a working luncheon on climate change in New York, Sept 27, 2015

"China and the US should accelerate negotiations on the Bilateral Investment Treaty, strengthen military dialogue, combat all forms of terrorism, work together in dealing with climate change and promote communication and coordination on major international and regional issues."

Xi said when addressing the opening ceremony of the sixth round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue and the fifth round of High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange in Beijing, July 9, 2014.

"China's submission to the UN of its nationally intended contributions is aimed at facilitating global climate governance, and also for the sake of China's own development. These are the enhanced actions China has made to achieve the objectives set out in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change."

Xi said in a written interview with Reuters, Oct 18, 2015

"China has announced it will make available 20 billion yuan ($3.1 billion) to establish the South-South Cooperation Fund on Climate Change and to support other developing countries coping with climate change."

Xi said during a working luncheon on climate change in New York, Sept 27, 2015

"China will further enhance efforts to control greenhouse gas emissions and is determined to lower its carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP by 40 to 45 percent by 2020 from 2005 levels."

Xi said during a working luncheon on climate change in New York, Sept 27, 2015

"China will participate in 600 new projects that aim to help developing countries in the next five years. These include 100 projects on ecological preservation and climate change."

Xi said during the round table on South-South cooperation at the UN headquarters in New York, Sept 26, 2015
