Los Angeles police have announced that they are looking into allegations that Britney Spears may have been drugged, according to U.S. media reports Thursday.
Police Captain Kyle Jackon said in a statement, "The issues regarding Britney Spears are being considered by the department to determine if laws have been violated. Particular suspects have not yet been fully identified nor has a formal investigation into open charges officially commenced. At this time we don't know whether or not a formal investigation will be initiated."
However, no suspects have been identified yet, the police said.
Spears' mother, Lynne, claimed in recent court papers that the pop star's sometime companion Sam Lutfi drugged Spears and tried to take control of her life. Those claims led to a restraining order against Lutfi.
Spears is currently under a court-ordered conservatorship.
On Sunday, U.S. media reported that Kevin Federline had agreed to give?Spears the?visitation rights with their two young sons, nearly two months after she last saw them.??
The 26-year-old pop star hadn't been allowed to see her two sons since an incident at her home that led to the first of her two hospitalizations in a psychiatric facility this year and a decision by another court to put James Spears in charge of her affairs.
Before the hospitalizations, the American singer, once one of the world's biggest pop stars, had spiraled downwards since her divorce last year from Federline.
She shaved her head, was seen in public without underwear, ran over a celebrity photographer's foot and attacked a vehicle with an umbrella, among other strange outbursts.
