Sharif: Rejection of nomination papers won't damage morale
Adjust font size:

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mian Nawaz Sharif Tuesday dispelled the impression that the rejection of his nomination papers would damage his morale, saying that he is determined to contest elections with more courage.

In an interview with a local TV channel, Sharif said that the rejection of his nomination papers had not caused any loss to him. "Rather, it has unveiled the ill-intentions of the rulers," he said.

Sharif said that the people would not accept even the positive steps taken by President Pervez Musharraf unless the judiciary was restored to its pre-Nov. 3 position, when emergency was imposed.

He leveled allegations on Musharraf that he dismissed the judiciary because he was aware that the verdict on the case of his presidency was going to be decreed against him.

He said, "It is our responsibility to guide the nation towards the right direction."

He said that the PML-N will introduce the true democracy in Pakistan and there is no vested interest of the party to achieve this goal.

Sharif described the extra-constitutional steps taken on Nov. 3as another development towards the dictatorship.

He dubbed the lifting of emergency without the reinstatement of sacked judiciary as a mockery with the nation.
