To commemorate the 50th birthday of late Hong Kong singer and actor Leslie Cheung fans in Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and Japan held a range of events Tuesday.   

 

More than 200 fans in Beijing gathered at the Dahua Cinema to recall Leslie Cheung's solo concerts performed from 1988 to 1997.

 

 

Fans organized a commemorative activity entitled "Love Candles" at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center where some of the costumes worn by the singer during his many performances were displayed.

While in Japan the "Leslie Cheung Film Festival" is being held from September 9 to September 15 with seven of Cheung's films, including Farewell My Concubine, being screened during the event.
