China's Defense and Military Development Enters the New Era

In his report "Secure a Decisive Victory in Building a Moderately Prosperous Society in All Respects and Strive for the Great Success of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" delivered at the 19th CPC National Congress on October 18, 2017, Xi Jinping declared that China had entered a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, opening a new chapter in the Chinese history. 

At a meeting of senior military leaders on October 26, 2017, he further pointed out that a new era for China's socialism also meant a new era for China's national defense and armed forces, offering a strategic vision for China's new defense needs that sets new requirements for the mission of the military and its future trajectory in response to domestic and global changes.

2017年10月18日，中國(guó)共產(chǎn)黨召開(kāi)第十九次全國(guó)代表大會(huì)，習(xí)近平向大會(huì)作了題為《決勝全面建成小康社會(huì) 奪取新時(shí)代中國(guó)特色社會(huì)主義偉大勝利》的報(bào)告，指出“中國(guó)特色社會(huì)主義進(jìn)入了新時(shí)代”，這是對(duì)中國(guó)發(fā)展歷史方位的全新界定。2017年10月26日，習(xí)近平在軍隊(duì)領(lǐng)導(dǎo)干部會(huì)議上指出，中國(guó)特色社會(huì)主義進(jìn)入了新時(shí)代，國(guó)防和軍隊(duì)建設(shè)也進(jìn)入了新時(shí)代。這是對(duì)中國(guó)國(guó)防和軍隊(duì)建設(shè)所處歷史方位的戰(zhàn)略判斷，意味著人民軍隊(duì)內(nèi)外環(huán)境有了新變化、使命任務(wù)有了新拓展、建設(shè)發(fā)展有了新要求。
