The Spirit of the First Revolutionary Base in the Jinggang Mountains
In 1927, after the failure of its urban uprising, the CPC established its first revolutionary base in the Jinggang Mountains in Jiangxi Province. From there it began to organize the peasantry to encircle the cities from the rural areas and seize political power through armed struggle. The Jinggang Mountains thus became the cradle of Chinese revolution.
The Jinggang Mountains spirit is characterized by perseverance and a belief in achieving victory through armed struggle. The significance of this spirit is that it helped the CPC find its own road to revolution.
Carrying on the unyielding spirit of the revolutionary pioneers, the people living in this old revolutionary base area have developed a spirit of self-reliance, and through hard work they are marching toward prosperity.
